Alexander Ritzmann ist Politischer Analyst und Senior Fellow bei der “European Foundation for Democracy” in Brüssel und beim “Brandenburgischen Institut für Gesellschaft und Sicherheit” in Potsdam. Er ist außerdem non-resident Fellow beim “American Center for Contemporary German Studies” in Washington D.C. Der Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit liegt in den Bereichen Demokratieförderung, politischer Islam und Terrorismus.
Ritzmann ist als Sachverständiger vor dem EU-Rat, der EU-Kommission, dem U.S. Congress, dem U.S. Department of Homeland Security und dem U.S. Department of State aufgetreten. Er berät zudem Abgeordnete des Deutschen Bundestags, des U.S. Congress und des Europäischen Parlaments.
Von 2001-2006 war er Mitglied des Berliner Abgeordnetenhauses und dort stellvertretender Vorsitzender der FDP-Fraktion sowie Sprecher seiner Partei in den Ausschüssen für Inneres, Sicherheit und Ordnung, Verfassungsschutz und Datenschutz.

He is also a non-resident Fellow at the “American Center for Contemporary German Studies” in Washington, DC. He specializes in Democracy Promotion, Political Islam and Terrorism.

Ritzmann testified before the U.S. Congress and gave briefings at the German Ministry of the Interior, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S Department of State and the Commission of the European Union. He is also advising members of the German Bundestag, the U.S. Congress and the European Parliament.

Ritzmann is a former member of the Berlin State Parliament, Germany (2001-2006) and was the vice chairman of the Free Democratic Party’s parliamentary group. He served as the ranking member of his party on the homeland security, intelligence and data protection committees.
